Post-Publication Discussion

Lontar : Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi recognizes that scholarly communication continues after an article has been published. The journal welcomes constructive, evidence-based discussion that contributes to the development of communication studies and helps maintain the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.

1. Scope of Post-Publication Discussion

Readers and researchers may raise substantive questions or provide scholarly comments concerning published articles, including their arguments, theoretical contributions, research methods, data interpretation, findings, and conclusions.

Post-publication comments should contribute meaningfully to academic discussion and be relevant to the journal's scope.

2. Submission of Comments

Readers who wish to submit a comment or raise a concern about a published article may contact the editorial office through the journal's official contact channels.

Submissions should include:

  • The title, author(s), and publication details of the article concerned.
  • A clear explanation of the issue or argument being raised.
  • Supporting references, evidence, or documentation where applicable.
  • The name and affiliation of the person submitting the comment.

The editorial team may request revisions, clarification, or additional supporting information before considering a submission for publication.

3. Editorial Assessment

All proposed post-publication comments are subject to editorial assessment. The editor will consider their relevance, scholarly value, accuracy, originality, and compliance with publication ethics.

Where necessary, the journal may seek independent expert assessment or invite the original author(s) to respond.

Comments and responses may be published as separate scholarly contributions or in another appropriate format determined by the editorial team.

4. Right of Reply

Where a comment raises substantive questions about a published article, the original author(s) may be invited to provide a response.

The journal aims to provide a fair opportunity for scholarly exchange while ensuring that comments and responses remain evidence-based, professional, and respectful.

5. Ethical Standards

Post-publication discussions must not contain personal attacks, discriminatory statements, harassment, defamatory content, or unsupported allegations.

Concerns involving possible research misconduct, serious errors, or unreliable findings will be assessed under the journal's relevant research misconduct, correction, and retraction policies rather than treated solely as general scholarly debate.

6. Editorial Outcomes

Following assessment, the journal may accept a comment for publication, request revisions, decline the submission with an appropriate editorial explanation, or refer the matter to the relevant editorial or ethics procedure.

If a published article requires a formal correction or retraction, the journal will follow its Correction and Retraction policy.
