Abstract

Johanness Gutenberg dikenal keberhasilannya menemukan mesin cetak yang mampu merevolusi denyut kehidupan yang tadinya begitu lamban  dan lambat selama berabad-abad  menjadi amat dinamis. Kehadiran percetakan itu dalam perjalannya juga memunculkan cara baru orang berkomunikasi, dari komunikasi lisan dan tatap muka, menjadi komunikasi massa dengan medianya buku dan surat kabar. Di sisi lain kedahiran buku terutama juga membawa dampak  yang begitu besar bagi masyarakat, utamnya dalam perubahan sosial dan kemajuan peradaban.
